Prud'homme Beer Certification, a beer sommelier program was created in 2009 to meet the needs of a rapidly changing desire for more beer knowledge. This multi-level beer education course has something to offer to everyone from the beer afficiando to the hospitality professional.

As of March 2011, Prud'homme Level 1 is also being offered with the convenience of an online learning platform. Now, quality beer education is only a click away.


The three levels of certification

Level 1 -The Beer Enthusiast 
12 hours of classroom instruction  ($249) or
6-8 hours of online learning ($150)
This is an introductory course in beer education designed for participants interested in furthering their knowledge and interest in beer.

The focus will be on brewing ingredients and processes, tasting concepts, pouring and serving concepts (including an introduction to draught systems) and food and beer pairings.

 
Level 2 - The Beer Specialist 
(completion of Level 1 is a pre-requisite)  
24 hours of classroom instruction ($499)
This course is designed and developed for participants who wish to further their knowledge of beer for use in the following: a) the hospitality industry b) as a agent for a brewer/distributor of beer c) beverage alcohol education. 
                                  
The focus is to provide more detailed insights into brewing ingredients and processes, draught systems while introducing Canadian brewing history and further investigating negative sensory components.

Level 3 - The Beer Sommelier
(completion of Level 2 is a pre-requisite) 
32 hours of classroom instruction ($749)
This final level of programming is geared to creating the title of Beer Sommelier; a more detailed, extensive look at the World of Beer and methods of designing, developing and facilitating beer education programs and events.  This course also offers a half day hands-on brewing exercise and a culminating beer dinner.
